Bad Marienberg: Two seriously injured in head-on collision

Bad Marienberg - A serious head-on collision occurred on the B54 between Bad Marienberg and Hachenburg on Tuesday evening. According to the police, two people were seriously injured. The road was closed for several hours.

The accident happened around 7:30 pm. According to initial findings, a 53-year-old car driver from the Westerwald district was driving towards Bad Marienberg when he swerved into the oncoming lane and collided with a car driven by a 65-year-old man from Hachenburg.

Both drivers were seriously injured. Rescuers had to free the 65-year-old man from his car. He was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 53-year-old driver was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. The police have started investigations.

The road was closed for several hours for rescue and investigation work.
