A man has died in a head-on collision on the B31 near Teningen in the Emmendingen district.
According to the police, the 75-year-old was driving his VW Golf towards Emmendingen on Tuesday afternoon when he veered into the oncoming lane for reasons yet to be clarified and collided head-on with a Mercedes Sprinter.
The man died at the scene of the accident despite resuscitation attempts by the emergency services. The 49-year-old driver of the Mercedes was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter.
The B31 was closed for several hours due to the accident. The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
