Norwegian ends young Spaniard's 13-match winning streak at Nitto ATP Finals
Casper Ruud produced a stunning performance to defeat world number one Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the semi-finals of the Nitto ATP Finals on Saturday evening in Turin, Italy.
The Norwegian eighth seed saved two set points in a tense first set tie-break before breaking Alcaraz twice in the second set to secure a famous victory.
Ruud's victory ended Alcaraz's 13-match winning streak, which included a victory over Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals.
Ruud's victory sets up a final clash with Novak Djokovic
Ruud will now face Novak Djokovic in the final of the Nitto ATP Finals on Sunday.
Djokovic defeated Taylor Fritz 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6) in the other semi-final.
Ruud will be aiming to become the first Norwegian to win the Nitto ATP Finals, while Djokovic will be seeking a record-equalling sixth title.
