DWP to pay £10 Christmas Bonus to people on some benefits from December - who's eligible
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that it will be paying a £10 Christmas Bonus to people on certain benefits in December.
The bonus will be paid to people who are in receipt of the following benefits on 5 December 2022:
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Pension Credit
The payment will be made automatically, and people do not need to apply for it.
The Christmas Bonus is a one-off payment that is designed to help people with the extra costs of Christmas. It is paid in addition to people's regular benefit payments.
The DWP estimates that around 6.6 million people will receive the Christmas Bonus this year.
Who is eligible for the Christmas Bonus?
