Emily Höfer exits Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten
Anne Menden leaves the RTL series after 13 years
After 13 years, actress Anne Menden is leaving the RTL series "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" (GZSZ). The 35-year-old played the role of Emily Höfer in the soap opera since 2009. In a statement, RTL announced that Menden's exit will be shown on television in the spring of 2023.
Menden: "A very emotional decision"
Menden said her decision to leave GZSZ was "very emotional". "I've grown up with Emily over the years and she's become a part of my life," she said. "It's hard to say goodbye, but I feel like it's the right time for me to move on and take on new challenges."
RTL's head of fiction, Jörg Graf, thanked Menden for her years of dedication to GZSZ. "Anne has been a great asset to the series and her character Emily Höfer has been a fan favorite," he said. "We wish her all the best for the future."
GZSZ without Emily Höfer
It is not yet known how Emily Höfer's exit will be handled in the series. However, fans can expect a dramatic storyline, as the character has been a central figure in GZSZ for many years.
Emily Höfer is not the first long-standing character to leave GZSZ in recent years. In 2020, actress Isabell Horn left the series after 15 years. And in 2021, actor Jörn Schlönvoigt left after 18 years.
Despite the departures of some of its most popular characters, GZSZ remains one of the most popular soap operas in Germany. The series has been on the air since 1992 and has produced over 7,000 episodes.
