Fed up residents raise funds for CCTV camera to monitor notorious fly-tipping street
Residents fed up with fly-tipping
Residents of a street in Birmingham are fed up with fly-tipping and have raised funds to install a CCTV camera to monitor the area. The camera will be installed on a lamppost on Birchfield Road, which has been plagued by fly-tipping for years.
Local resident, John Smith, said: "We're sick and tired of fly-tipping on our street. It's an eyesore and it attracts vermin. We've had enough."
The camera will be monitored by the local council and will be used to identify and prosecute fly-tippers.
Council welcomes CCTV camera
The local council has welcomed the installation of the CCTV camera. A spokesperson for the council said: "We're pleased that residents have taken the initiative to tackle fly-tipping in their area. We will work with them to ensure that the camera is effective in deterring and prosecuting fly-tippers."
The council has also urged residents to report any incidents of fly-tipping to the council. Residents can report fly-tipping online or by calling the council's customer service number.
