Mets Morning News: Mets fall to Blue Jays, back in tie for Wild Card

The New York Mets fell to the Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 on Friday night, dropping them back into a tie with the Milwaukee Brewers for the second Wild Card spot in the National League.

The Mets offense was held in check by Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman, who allowed just two runs on four hits in six innings of work. The Mets bullpen also struggled, allowing three runs in the seventh inning to give the Blue Jays a 5-2 lead.

The Mets are now 74-70 on the season and have lost three of their last four games. They will face the Blue Jays again on Saturday in the middle game of their three-game series.

Injury Updates

Edwin Diaz (shoulder) and Jeff McNeil (hamstring) are both day-to-day and could return to the lineup on Saturday.

Upcoming Schedule

The Mets will face the Blue Jays again on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. ET. They will then open a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday at Truist Park.
