AC/DC Bassist Dies at 68
Austrian bassist Peter Nidetzky, a former member of the popular band AC/DC, passed away at age 68 after several months in the hospital. During his time with the rock group, Nidetzky made indelible contributions on some of their most iconic tracks. He joined AC/DC in 1977, shortly after the release of their breakthrough album "Let There Be Rock," and participated in the recordings of "Powerage" and "Highway to Hell."
Tony Currenti, Nidetzky's friend and former bandmate, announced the sad news via Facebook, and reminisced about their time together:
"Peter was very dear to me and a special part of AC/DC. He had a unique kind of humor and was always such a happy guy. Peter's time in AC/DC was during the Bon Scott era. He played on the 'Powerage' album and 'Highway to Hell' album. As well as playing on the '79 US tour. Peter was such a pleasure to work with. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends."
