A provisional date has been set for the commencement of a long-awaited harbourside mural. Renowned local artist, John Smith, who hails from the harbour area, will begin work on the large-scale mural next month.
The artwork, which will be painted on the side of the historic harbourfront building, will depict the history and culture of the area. Smith, who has been working on the design for several months, said he is excited to finally start work on the mural.
Smith said he wants the mural to be a celebration of the harbour’s rich history and culture. He also hopes it will become a landmark for the area and a source of pride for the local community.
“I want to create a piece of art that reflects the unique character of the harbour area,” Smith said,
"I hope it will be a source of pride for the local community and a reminder of the area’s rich history and culture,” he said.
The mural is expected to be completed by 2024 and will be the largest public artwork in the area.
