Spirit Airlines Swings into Service to Port-au-Prince

New Nonstop Service Connects Fort Lauderdale, Orlando to Haiti’s Capital

Port-au-Prince, Haiti – December 15, 2023 –

Spirit Airlines took its inaugural flights from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando to Port-au-Prince on December 15, 2023, marking the carrier’s entrance into the Haitian market. The new non-stop service offers affordable travel options for travelers from South Florida and Central Florida to the Haitian capital.

At a press conference held at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, Spirit Airlines President and CEO Ted Christie expressed his excitement about the expansion into Haiti.

“We are thrilled to launch our service to Port-au-Prince, offering our guests access to a vibrant and dynamic destination,” said Christie. “Our new flights provide affordable and convenient travel options for both business and leisure travelers, further strengthening the ties between the United States and Haiti.”

The new service will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Port-au-Prince Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) depart at 8:25 AM and arrive at 9:50 AM. The return flights depart PAP at 10:45 AM and arrive FLL at 12:10 PM.

Flights from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to PAP depart at 1:35 PM and arrive at 3:00 PM. The return flights depart PAP at 3:55 PM and arrive MCO at 5:20 PM.

Spirit Airlines is offering introductory fares starting at $99 for one-way flights from FLL to PAP and $129 for one-way flights from MCO to PAP. The fares are available for purchase on Spirit’s website and through travel agents.

The Haitian ambassador to the United States, Bocchit Edmond, welcomed Spirit Airlines’ entry into the Haitian market, saying that the new service will boost tourism and economic development in Haiti.

“We are very pleased to have Spirit Airlines operating in Haiti,” said Ambassador Edmond. “This new service will provide affordable travel options for our diaspora, facilitate trade and investment, and promote tourism to our beautiful country.”

In addition to the new nonstop service, Spirit Airlines also offers convenient connections to Port-au-Prince from other cities in the United States, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, and San Juan.
