Plans revealed for 67 homes in New Forest
Developer promises 40% will be 'affordable'
Homes England and Vistry Group confirmed the outline plan for Copythorne
Plans to build nearly 70 new homes in the New Forest have been submitted to the local council for consideration.
Developer Vistry Group is seeking permission from New Forest District Council for 67 homes on land off Woodside Lane in Copythorne, which is a small village with a population of around 5,000 people.
The proposals include 27 affordable homes - 13 two-bedroom houses and 14 one-bedroom flats - which the developer says represents more than 40% of the new properties on the development.
The remaining 40 homes would be sold on the open market, comprising a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.
As part of the plans, Vistry would also create a new pedestrian and cycle path along Woodside Lane, which the developer says would link Copythorne with neighbouring village Bramshaw.
The developer says the proposals would make a "significant contribution" to housing delivery in the New Forest area and boost the local economy.
It comes after the government announced plans in December 2020 to increase the number of homes built in England to 300,000 per year by the mid-2020s.
The plans for the new homes in Copythorne are currently being considered by New Forest District Council. A decision is expected to be made later this year.
