Tree felling on a slope fails: Oak tree trunk crashes into living room
Residents of Bad Schandau are shocked after a tree felling operation goes wrong and an oak tree trunk crashes into a house.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning in a residential area of the town. A tree felling company had been hired to remove several trees from a steep slope behind a house. However, one of the trees fell in the wrong direction and crashed through the roof of the house, narrowly missing the occupants.
The residents of the house, a couple in their 60s, were not injured in the incident. However, they were left shaken and shocked by the near miss. "We heard a loud bang and then everything went black," said the woman of the house. "We thought the whole house was going to collapse."
The tree felling company has apologized for the incident and is investigating how it happened. The company said that the tree was supposed to fall in the opposite direction, but that something went wrong. "We are very sorry for what happened," said a spokesman for the company. "We are taking this matter very seriously and we are doing everything we can to find out what went wrong."
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of tree felling operations on steep slopes. Residents of Bad Schandau are calling for the town council to review its regulations for tree felling companies. "This could have been a lot worse," said one resident. "We need to make sure that something like this doesn't happen again."
The town council is currently investigating the incident and is considering whether to introduce new regulations for tree felling companies.
